No, you don’t have to enter every contest. You can pick as many as you’d like. We do encourage juniors to jump into all of them, though. Each contest earns points toward the Premier Exhibitor awards, and you never know what you might learn or how much fun you’ll have. After all, you can’t win if you don’t enter.

Yes. Per MHBA rules, every animal must have a complete DNA profile with sire and dam verification. This includes calves in cow–calf pairs. Because DNA results can take a while to process, make sure you submit your samples as soon as possible so you don’t miss out on showing.

Yes. Any time you cross state lines, you’re required to have current health papers. If your state also requires brand inspections, you’ll need to have that documentation with you as well. More details will be outlined in the premium book, and it’s always a good idea to check with your local veterinarian to make sure you have everything needed before you travel.description

The best way to support the kids at MHJN is to give. It takes real resources to put on an event of this size, and every dollar goes directly toward creating an unforgettable week for our juniors. You can also support them personally — reach out to a youth who’s attending, cheer them on, and check in throughout the week to see how they’re doing.

If you live nearby, simple acts make a big difference: help wash or care for their animal, lend a hand loading the trailer, keep an eye on the farm while they’re gone, or send them off with snacks for the road.
